Research Experience:
Dr. Agyeman has successfully coordinated over 10 research projects focused on crop improvement, soil and crop nutrition, and sustainable agriculture practices, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to drive agricultural innovation and development.
- National Coordinator for “Feed the Future Project” Initiated by CORAF/WECARD and Funded by USAID between 2013 and 2015.
- Lead Agronomist for “Support to Agricultural Research for Development of Strategic Crops in Africa (SARD-SC)” Project: Maize Funded by Africa Development Bank (ADB) between 2013 and 2016.
- National Coordinator for “Soil Fertility and Nutrient Management for Improved Cassava Productivity in Ghana” funded by OCP Africa between 2019 – 2022.
- Project Coordinator for “International Treaty for Plant Genetic Resources for Africa” funded by Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) between 2016 – 2020 and 2021-2024.

Dr. Agyeman is a highly motivated and experienced agronomist with a strong passion for sustainable agriculture and crop production. Proven track record of delivering innovative solutions to improve crop yields, reduce environmental impact, and enhance agricultural productivity.
Dr. Kennedy Agyeman is a senior research scientist at Ghana’s Council for Scientific and Industrial Research – Crops Research Institute (CSIR-CRI), leading national projects on Bambara groundnut (PGRFA, BAMBREED, and VACS) and cassava nutrient management (OCP Africa) to enhance food security and address environmental sustainability. As principal investigator, his work aligns with CSIR-CRI’s mission to diversify crop production.
He has extensive expertise in crop resource management, soil health, and agronomic technologies, contributing to projects like soybean improvement, Genetic Improvement of Bambara Groundnut for Future Nutrition and Climate Resilience and the ground breaking Wheat Initiative for Ghana. He contributed to the development and release of over 20 maize and cassava varieties and led agronomic technology dissemination under the AFDB SARD-SC initiative.
He holds a Ph.D. in Agronomy and an M.Sc. in Agroforestry. Dr. Agyeman has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and trained technicians, farmers, and extension agents in sustainable practices. A member of the Ghana Science Association and CSIR-Research Staff Association, he is also affiliated with committees on fertilizers and soil health, underscoring his commitment to agricultural innovation and sustainability.
