Mr. Samuel Azuug Ndebilla (Azuug) is an accomplished Chartered Marketer and currently the Head of the Commercialization Division at the CSIR-Crops Research Institute (CSIR-CRI). Azuug’s strong academic foundation includes a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Marketing from CIM (UK, 2023), an MBA in Marketing from KNUST (2014), a BMS from UCC (2010), and an HND in Marketing from Kumasi Technical University (2003). This comprehensive education underpins his strategic approach to commercialization and business development.

A dedicated professional with membership in the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK), Azuug brings over a decade of robust experience in marketing, business development, and commercialization, with a particular focus on advancing agricultural technologies and fostering sustainable practices. His core passion lies in translating cutting-edge research into tangible value across local and global crop value chains through strategic technology transfer and effective commercialization strategies. Azuug is deeply committed to collaborative partnerships, driving innovation and entrepreneurship, and developing spin-off ventures that contribute significantly to economic growth within the agricultural sector.

Prior to his current role (and a previous tenure in the same position from March 2019 to December 2022), Azuug served as the Head of the Marketing and Business Development Section at CSIR-CRI (January 2023 – December 2024), where he successfully led a team in driving revenue growth and implementing impactful marketing strategies. His expertise was also sought as a Partnership and Business Development Consultant for the CORAF iREACH Agricultural Technology Park in 2024, where he developed strategies for broader adoption of agricultural innovations.

Azuug’s leadership in commercialization at CSIR-CRI has yielded remarkable results, including significant increases in internally generated funds. He has also been instrumental in forging strategic collaborations with prominent organizations such as Cargill Ghana Ltd., Anglo Gold Ashanti, and Modanark Organic Farms Ltd., leading to valuable contracts and partnerships. Furthermore, Azuug has actively contributed to capacity building programs focused on marketing, business development, regenerative agriculture, and nursery management.

With remarkable dedication, Azuug’s contributions extend to various internal committees, including the Modern Commercial Farm Committee, Seed System Committee, Technology Licensing Management and Monitoring Team, and Oversight Commercialization Committee. He is also a key contributor to organizational knowledge through the authorship of annual, quarterly, and commercialization reports and the development and implementation of numerous project proposals, such as the Atebubu-Wiase Forest Landscape Restoration Project, the PROSSIVA Yam project and the CSIR-CRI-Seed Research & Business Center. Azuug’s experience extends beyond CSIR-CRI, including his role as Operations Officer at Sekyere Rural Bank PLC (April 2012 – February 2019), where he significantly contributed to the growth of microfinance portfolios. He has also demonstrated a strong commitment to community development through collaborations with organizations like Grassroots Africa, Presbyterian Agricultural Station (Garu), and CSIR-SARI, focusing on post-harvest loss reduction, financial literacy for smallholder farmers and the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices. He has also coordinated funding projects and served as a trainer for World Bank-sponsored initiatives.
