CELEBRATING A MILESTONE: CSIR-CRI KWADASO STATION UNVEILS NEWLY RENOVATED CONFERENCE HALL

In a ceremony held on December 15, 2023, the Kwadaso station of the CSIR-Crops Research Institute (CSIR-CRI) celebrated the opening of its newly renovated conference hall. Staff from various CSIR-CRI stations and other CSIR Institutes, gathered for the ribbon-cutting ceremony which commenced at 10:30 am with an opening prayer.

Envisioned as a hub for scientific knowledge exchange and collaboration, the ribbon for the newly refurbished conference hall was officially cut open by the Director of the Institute, Prof Moses Brandford Mochiah, at the beginning of the ceremony. The event was also graced by members of the Institute’s Internal Management Committee (IMC), retired research scientists as well as staff from sister CSIR Institutes.

Prof. Mochiah expressed gratitude to the manager of the Institute’s  Kwadaso station, Dr. Michael Kwabena Osei, whose leadership and vision saw to the refurbishment of the conference hall. “I joined the CSIR-CRI in the year 2002 at this same Kwadaso outstation to serve, and I will continue to serve”, he indicated. He further appealed to all attendees to voluntarily contribute their support for the betterment of the Institute, enabling the fulfilment of its mission and vision. He pledged that he and his management would acquire some of the furniture needed to complement the conference hall.

In his brief remarks, Dr. Michael Kwabena Osei, the manager of the Kwadaso outstation mentioned the significance of the occasion and stated that the newly renovated conference hall would provide a conducive environment for research and development. He also acknowledged the contributions of key persons towards the successful renovation of the hall.

Dr. Osei also seized the opportunity to outline other initiatives undertaken at the station. These comprised the roofing of the canteen block, the redesigning of the reception area, amongst several others.
