Mr. David Appiah-Kubi holds Diploma in Laboratory Technology from the University of Cape Coast, a B.Sc. (Agriculture) and an M.Sc. (Agronomy-Plant breeding option) both from then Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.
He has expertise in laboratory safety and management. He was part of the team that established a functional tissue culture facility at the institute in 1996 and currently is a member of a team of internal auditors for ISO 170205:2005 as well as Technical Manager for the CSIR-CRI tissue culture laboratory.
He has varied interests in plant tissue culture techniques (includes post-flask management of in-vitro plantlets) in plantain, banana, cocoyam, taro, yam, cassava, and sweetpotato. He also has expertise in plant molecular biology with genetic diversity studies and marker assisted breeding.
He has received training from local and international research institutions.
Mr. Appiah-Kubi introgressed non-pod shuttering gene into other soybean varieties and tracked the gene expression using molecular markers for his M.Sc. thesis.
