Mr. Solomon Kodjo Darkey is a product of the Nyankpala Agricultural College (now Damongo Agricultural College). He is a Research Scientist with CSIR-Crops Research Institute Kumasi, Ghana. He holds an M. Phil degree in Agricultural Extension from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and a Bachelor of Education degree in Agricultural Education from the University College of Education, Winneba, Mampong campus.
He has myriad research interests spanning from adaptive agronomic to postharvest issues on plantains, bananas and vegetables. He is a strong advocate for and more interested in a paradigm shift of agricultural extension from the usual technology transfer process to the provision of information along commodity value chains, facilitating formation of self-motivated farmer groups and Innovation Platforms (IPs), demand-driven pluralistic and decentralised agricultural extension services. He is also interested in the application of information technology in extension processes to enhance communication especially between research and extension.

His future research focus is to device varied applicable agricultural technologies and techniques that can be adopted within an integrated farming system to decrease the cost of production, increase yield per unit area, enhance produce quality and also improve their stress response without adversely affecting the environment.
