Brief Bio:

Dr. Harry Okyere is a Senior Research Scientist and an Environmental/Analytical Chemist at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) – Crops Research Institute (CRI). He earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2002, followed by an M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry in 2010 and a Ph.D. in Environmental Chemistry in 2020, both from KNUST.

He is a member of the Ghana Science Association and the Ghana Chemical Society and currently serves as the Welfare Chairman of the CSIR-CRI branch of the Research Staff Association (RSA). His research focuses on harvesting tailwater for crop production in rice farming and investigating heavy metal toxicology in various environmental matrices. His studies include contamination in ‘fufu’ pounding machines and farms near mining (galamsey) sites. Driven by a commitment to food safety, Dr. Okyere aims to support farmers in cultivating contaminant-free crop varieties that are safe for consumption and industrial use.
