Empowering Inclusive Environments: Workshop on Safeguarding and Disability Inclusion

The Centre for Executive Training and Development (CETAD), in partnership with World University Services, Canada, and funded by the MasterCard Foundation, organized a workshop on ‘Safeguarding and Disability Inclusion’ at CSIR-Crops Research Institute on August 7, 2025. This initiative aligns with the MasterCard Foundation project’s goal of providing a safe working environment for young people. The workshop aimed to promote awareness and understanding of safeguarding and disability inclusion, fostering a more inclusive environment through valuable insights and practical strategies.


Workshop Objectives and Agenda
The workshop had clear objectives to:
– Enhance participants’ understanding of safeguarding principles and practices in the workplace.
– Promote disability-inclusive employment practices, focusing on benefits, importance, and practical applications.
– Equip participants with strategies for creating a safe and inclusive work environment.


The agenda included two key presentations:
1. Safeguarding: Presented by Mr. Eric Boafo Akuffo, a CETAD Trainer, focusing on understanding safeguarding principles, identifying potential risks, and protecting vulnerable individuals.
2. Disability Inclusive Employment Training: Presented by Ms. Dorcas Efe Mensah, a CETAD Trainer, highlighting the benefits, importance, and practical applications of inclusive hiring practices.
Key Highlights
– The workshop featured interactive exercises where participants discussed and answered questions related to real-world scenarios on safeguarding and disability inclusion.
– Participants gained insights into creating and maintaining a safe work environment and fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion.
– The presentations emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in promoting safeguarding and disability inclusion in the workplace.


Outcomes
The workshop successfully promoted awareness and understanding of safeguarding and disability inclusion principles. By equipping participants with practical strategies and insights, the workshop fosters a culture of safety, accountability, and inclusion. Certificates of participation were awarded to recognize the commitment and engagement of participants.
