CSIR-Crops Research Institute Hosts Delegation from Colorado State University
On Thursday, January 16, 2025, a delegation from the Department of Soil and Crop Science, Colorado State University, USA, visited the CSIR-Crops Research Institute (CSIR-CRI) to explore potential areas of collaboration.
Purpose of the Visit
The visit aimed to provide the delegation with an understanding of CSIR-CRI’s research endeavors, mandates, and accomplishments, with a focus on potential areas of collaboration.
Welcome Remarks and Presentation
The Acting Director of CSIR-CRI, Dr. Ernest Baafi, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Institute’s mandate, research priorities, and achievements. He highlighted CSIR-CRI’s efforts in improving crop production, promoting food security, and its research projects and centers across Ghana.
Climate-Smart Agriculture Presentation
Dr. Stephen Yeboah, a Senior Research Scientist at CSIR-CRI, presented on “Developing and Scaling Climate Responsive Technologies.” He discussed Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices and technologies that enhance agricultural productivity, resilience, and mitigation.
Laboratory and Field Visit
The delegation visited CSIR-CRI’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the Tissue Culture Laboratory, Molecular Laboratory, ACE4ES Multicultural Technology Park, Wheat Breeding Field, Rice Breeding Field, and Irrigation facility. The visit provided hands-on insight into CSIR-CRI’s research and showcased its commitment to innovation and excellence.
