CSIR-CROPS RESEARCH INSTITUTE AND THE TOKYO UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE TECHNOLOGY, JAPAN, PARTNER FOR MUTUAL RESEARCH AND TRAINING COLLABORATION
A team of professors from the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT), Japan, visited the CSIR-Crops Research Institute (CSIR-CRI) from March 10 – 11, 2023.
The team was led by Prof. Shin Okazaki, Prof. Soh Sugihara and Emeritus Prof. Yoshiharu.
The objective was to strengthen the collaboration between the two Institutes. The team paid a courtesy call on the Director of CSIR-CRI, Prof. Moses Brandford Mochiah and his Deputy, Dr. Maxwell Darko Asante. A number of scientists from the CSIR-CRI, led by Rev. Dr. Ralph K. Bam, an agronomist and a Principal Research Scientist, were also present at the meeting.
In his welcome address, the Director, Prof. Moses Brandford Mochiah noted the contribution of TUAT to Ghana’s rice research efforts and suggested a strengthened partnership and a broader collaboration between TUAT and CSIR-CRI. Prof. Okazaki, in his words, assured the Director of a more fruitful partnership and research collaboration with not only the CSIR-CRI but also with the CSIR-Savannah Agriculture Research Institute (CSIR-SARI) in Tamale and the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Ghana, Legon, in the future. He was grateful to the Director and his management for the warm reception and promised his utmost best to foster research and development through the partnership. A memorandum of understanding and service agreement was signed between the two Institutes.
