CROPS RESEARCH INSTITUTE PARTNERS WITH ASANDUFF GROUP OF COMPANIES
On Monday, June 3, 2022, the Director of the CSIR-Crops Research Institute, Prof. M.B Mochiah received Dr. Nana Anderson from the Asanduff Group of Companies to initiate discussions into the formation of a strong and viable public-private partnership between the two outfits. Asanduff Group of Companies is a private company that operates in the construction and agriculture industries.
The company expressed its willingness to collaborate with the Institute to use the Institute’s technologies and expertise in producing economic vegetables and fruits such as chilli pepper, ginger, tiger nut, cashew, tomatoes, among others. An agreement was also reached to jointly train and sub-contract other growers and/or farmers in the production of vegetables and fruits that meet the standards required by the market with funding from Asanduff GOCs.
Prof. Mochiah expressed the Institute’s willingness and preparedness to establish a strong and working relationship with Asanduff GOCs. He indicated that CSIR-CRI has since its inception developed and released a number of excellent crop varieties for most crops cultivated in Ghana. He added that the Institute had begun to encourage and foster similar arrangements with relevant potential partners realizing that this was a key strategy to advance the course of the Institute and agriculture for Ghana’s development. Prof. Mochiah further added that the Institute is opened for more of such partnerships with many other crops especially in view of the current national and world economic environments.
Dr. Michael Kwabena Osei, Dr. Sylvester N.T.T Addy and Mr. Augustine Antwi-Boasiako, research scientists of the Institute, on their part indicated their support for the partnership and promised to actively assist for the partnership to yield results.
Both parties agreed to develop full-term Project Implementation Plans (PIP) of work for each crop under consideration.
