Daniel Fahene Acquaye Appointed Chairman of the Board of CSIR-Crops Research Institute

Mr. Daniel Fahene Acquaye, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Agri-Impact Group, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Management Board of the CSIR-Crops Research Institute (CSIR-CRI).
Mr. Acquaye was formally sworn into office in Kumasi and assumes leadership of the Board at a pivotal time when the Institute is intensifying efforts to advance demand-driven research, strengthen industry partnerships, and accelerate the delivery of innovative technologies to enhance agricultural productivity, food security, and national development.
As Chairman, he will provide strategic oversight and policy direction to the Institute, working closely with Management to strengthen governance systems, mobilize resources, and ensure that scientific research effectively translates into practical solutions for farmers and agribusinesses.
The Board is responsible for guiding research priorities, fostering collaboration, and promoting accountability and institutional excellence.
Mr. Acquaye brings over three decades of experience in agribusiness development, enterprise growth, and youth employment across Africa and the Caribbean. He has collaborated extensively with leading development institutions, including the Mastercard Foundation, United States Agency for International Development, African Development Bank, and the African Union.
Under his leadership, Agri-Impact has championed modern agricultural production systems, expanded export opportunities, and created inclusive employment pathways for women and youth.
He will chair an eight-member Management Board comprising distinguished professionals drawn from research, academia, agribusiness, and public service.
The members include Dr. Baffour Asafo-Agyei, Mr. Kojo Akoto Boateng, Dr. Solomon Ansah, Prof. Marian Quain, Dr. Collins Tay, Prof. Maxwell Darko Asante, and Mr. Emmanuel Afriyie, who serves as Board Secretary

Together, the Board will work collaboratively to strengthen CSIR-CRI’s mandate as a centre of excellence in crop research and innovation, ensuring that scientific advancements continue to drive sustainable agricultural transformation in Ghana and beyond.
