Brief bio:

Mr. Godfried Ohene-Mensah is a distinguished Plant Pathologist and Microbiologist with extensive expertise in plant disease management, agricultural research, and capacity building. He is a native of Kwahu Twenedurase in the Eastern Region of Ghana and attended Opoku Ware Senior Secondary School from 1999 to 2001.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Crop Science major) from KNUST, obtained in 2006, and later earned an MSc in Biotechnology from the same institution. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Plant Pathology at KNUST, focusing on fungal pathogens affecting cabbage in Ghana.

Professionally, he serves as a Plant Pathologist at the CSIR-Crops Research Institute, Ghana’s leading agricultural research center. His expertise lies in mycology, entomopathogens, and occasional bacteriology. Previously, he worked as a Municipal Development Officer for Crops at MoFA, where he played a key role in coordinating major agricultural projects. His academic engagements include lecturing at Sunyani Polytechnic and conducting plant health diagnostics for CABI’s Plantwise initiative.

His research interests focus on biological control of pests, integrated pest management, and fungal plant pathogens. Over the years, he has led several high-impact research projects funded by reputable organizations such as KAFACI, AGRA, and the UK Space Agency. He has also trained agricultural officers and farmers and has consulted for international organizations, including CABI and GIZ-ComCashew Master Training Programme.

A prolific researcher, Mr. Ohene-Mensah has published extensively in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, covering topics such as fall armyworm control, fungal plant pathogens, and biocontrol strategies. His contributions continue to shape sustainable agricultural practices and enhance food security in Ghana and beyond.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Ohene-Mensah is a devoted family man, married with three children—a son and two daughters. In his leisure time, he enjoys home gardening, sightseeing, and watching documentaries.
