CSIR Gets New Director General

The Director-General of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Dr. Victor Kwame Agyemang, has pledged to be fair and firmCross Section of CSIR-CRI Staff with DG in his dealings with all staff of the CSIR, in his effort to lead CSIR to deliver on its mandate and build on successes achieved.

The DG was speaking at a ceremony where he was introduced to the Director and staff of the CSIR-Crops Research Institute at Fumesua by the immediate past Director-General, Dr. Abdulai Baba Salifu.

“CSIR cannot function well without its staff,” he said. “You are one of our most important assets, and I know, as Director-General, I can count on your cooperation to succeed”. The Director-General promised to pursue an open and transparent administration that will ensure the involvement of all key sectors of the CSIR in decision making.

Dr. Agyemang described his predecessor as a pragmatic and down-to-earth leader whose tenure saw the CSIR growing tremendously and becoming more visible. 

Dr. A.B. Salifu on his part, described the Director-General as highly competent and committed to the cause of the CSIR. He had no doubt that Dr. Victor Agyemang possesses all the qualities required to efficiently deliver in his new position as a Director-General, something he so well demonstrated as the Director of the CSIR-Forestry Research Institute of Ghana.

The Director and Staff of CSIR-CRI pledged their unflinching support for the Director-General and wished him well in his new position.

The DG was accompanied by Mr. Issahaque Adams, the Acting Director of Administration at CSIR Head office; Mr. Yaw Painstil, CSIR Solicitor and Mr. Edward Decker, Scientific Secretary at the DG’s office.
